Inspiration from a girl, a cook, and a movie

For my recent birthday, I took my mom to the movies to see Julie and Juliet... fantastic movie! Although this story is suppose to be about a famous chef and a girl in Queens, I found myself inspired by the idea of Julie. She began blogging about something interesting in her life- cooking. I believe I will do the same about flowers! Focusing mainly on wedding florals and particularly local vendors and brides. This should be fun... 365 days to go, unlimited 'recipes' to blog!

New South Reno Venue

So cool it's hot! There is a new venue in town called the Grove. I've been driving by this new construction for quite some time now- especially when I need the kiddos to fall alseep. It's a wonderful craftsman style lodge that overlooks a meadow. Cows and all. I decided to drop in a take a look around. I was greeted by a very friendly and knowledge man who also happened to be the chef. The Grove is family owned and locally run with employees who have years of experience in events. I found out later that the entire location is also certified green and collects rain water to heat/cool the building. The media stuff is awesome and so is the salon style chair in the bridal suite. Overall, I was very impressed with the entire atmosphere... which is hard to do! If you haven't found the right place to have your wedding, corporate meeting, or any other event, you should check it out. The Grove is located on Foothill Dr in south Reno. I think their website is thegrovereno.com ( not entirely sure).

Andrea's mock up flowers

Floral Expressions and Events is happy to work with our clients in 'visualizing' their floral decor. Our friend Andrea rented some awesome metal tree centerpieces and needed some unique floral ideas to incorporate it. Wolah! The pictures don't do it justice- romantic in red!!!

The greatness of shared technology

I like to think of myself as tech savvy...actually I think of my whole generation as so. Looking around today I noticed I may be the only one without a iPhone. I know it's crazy. Not that I wouldn't like to have one, but well you know. I've been on myspace, now am addicted to Facebook, refuse to move onto Twitter, can blog reasonably well, google people, online shop, digital photographer extraordinaire, prefer email correspondence, etc. To get to my long winded thought- I want to share other wonderful blogs and websites that are inspirational. The joy's of modern shared technology- Enjoy! A local favorite of mine is a cozy shop located in Yerington Nevada called Twigs. Don't you just love the name?!?! She puts all my 'techiness' to shame! Although this shop is located in a smaller rural community, don't be fooled! Tracey and fellow designers at Twigs display the same modern edge big city florists do. My fav are the Diva shoes! Check out their blog at yeringtonflowers.blogspot.com

Breath of fresh air can spark creativity!

We have officially become by appointment only... however I find that I have been at the shop more! I feel as though I'm not 'tied' to the required hours most normal floral shops have. Thus in turn I'm feeling reinvigorated and a creative wave has washed over me! So cool- I love flowers!!! Sometimes all it takes is a different frame of mind to put things in perspective.
The sky's the limit on design ideas- difficult times in our country call for new ideas for small biz- new name?- new logo?- new paint?- new brides?- new phone?- hmmmm. To be continued...
